For this module I attended a series of workshops within the first few weeks, from which I built a body of typographic practice, exploring practical methodologies, processes, guidelines and terminology used within this discipline. The workshops ranged from hand-drawn to digital, utilising photography and printmaking.
After the workshops, my task was to produce a series of responses to selected text, in the form of a poster, a printed publication of six pages, including front and back covers as well as a digitally submitted research document that includes a version of the poster and publication. I had a choice from a series of pre-selected book chapters, using the first chapter as the text which I was designing with.
The content of my poster included the title of the book, its author, and the first sentence from the first chapter, and be portrait in orientation (A3).
Following this, I was required to design an eight-page printed publication that has a front and back page, utilising the name of the book and its author. The patterns which I created in ‘Workshop 2’ was used as End Papers, which left me with four pages to construct and craft a beautiful interpretation of the first chapter from my chosen book.
