I cut out the map of india on the front of the box to show what is inside once filled.

Catchy tag line 'You're going to India' brings a personal touch into the packaging.

I added the Virgin Atlantic logo in the top corner, and kept with the red colour scheme.

I added a indian pattern to surround the box once closed.

I also added plastic behind the cut out so that objects won't fall out.

I designed the packaging in the shape of a suitcase, it opens and closes quite easily by adjusting the handle.
This brief was set by Iggesund Paperboard. A Swedish company which manufactures high-quality paperboard at mills in Sweden and England. Iggesund is part of the Holmen Group, a Swedish forest industry group which owns large forest holdings and produces
newsprint and sawn timber in addition to paperboard.
The aim of the brief: Inspired by the innovations in the development of digital print technology, I had to take the packaging of a worldwide or national brand and make it regional, to suit a locality, event or special campaign. I had to think about what national or international brand I could find
to bring a bespoke aspect to, in order to make it local.
After a long thinking process and changes of ideas I finally came up with an idea which I felt comfortable with.
I chose to re-create the amenity kits for Virgin Atlantic, after researching into ‘Virgin Atlantic’. I learnt that they fly to 6 continents; Asia, Africa, Caribbean, USA, Mexico and the Middle East. My chosen continent was ‘Asia’, Asia is one of the largest continents on earth so by that, I imagined
Asia to be one of the busiest destinations which Virgin fly to.
Virgin fly to India, China and Hong Kong. I did some research and found that India was going to be my chosen destination, I was inspired
by the bright colours, patterns, architecture, etc.…
A considerable amount of time was spent on ideas when creating the packaging. I chose to have a pattern surrounding the front, and the sides of the box as I feel that patterns represent India. I also added a simple vector of a map of India on the front of the box, which I cut out so that the products inside of the box were clearly shown.
When I had finished my design, I then had to present my final idea in front of Iggesund partners, they really liked my idea/design and asked me to talk about it in front of the camera for a short film which they were making at the time. This was an amazing opportunity and I am very thankful to Iggesund for taking such a liking to my work.
